Scribe2Scribe

Scribe 2 Scribe is an imagined dialogue between two monks, two scribes, who are writing the Book of Kells. The dialogue is set in the ninth century but the language used propels it into the 21st century; it is not written in Latin but in the abbreviated language of text messaging.

All the lettering and illustrations have been copied by hand from the Book of Kells (as referenced alongside the pieces). Some forms, such as K or the Arabic numbers, I invented, copying the style of the insular manuscript.

The pieces were written and illustrated in pen and ink on paper which was prepared by the artist.
